Conditions for applying

These are our conditions for organisations.

  • Applications must be submitted by a not-for-profit organisation: a foundation, association or social enterprise.
  • The project concerned must be carried out within our region and focus on the population of that region.
  • Applicants must be based in our region. We can make exceptions for national organisations if they have a unique plan that involves working with partners within our region.
  • There must be at least six weeks between the start date of the project and the submission of the application.
  • Projects must have a social objective. By this we mean projects that aim to provide structural help for vulnerable people, to promote equal opportunities, to create lasting ties between people and/or to improve the living conditions in a neighbourhood or area.
  • Projects may not have a political or religious character. This includes projects designed to enlist political votes or religious followers.
  • Projects must not focus on individuals (i.e. one specific person or family).
  • We will not fund organisations that pay employees more than the rates specified in the Dutch Senior Executives in the Public and Semi-Public Sector (Standards for Remuneration) Act.
  • Voluntary participation is a very important factor.
  • Applications will only be accepted if submitted via the form on this website (in Dutch). We will return any other applications and ask the applicant to re-apply using the appropriate form.

Additional conditions for social enterprises

Fonds 1818 occasionally supports profit-making organisations, if their objectives also include generating social impact. In principle, Fonds 1818 considers projects aimed at getting people into work, on the condition that the enterprise concerned has firm agreements with a municipality in our region about supplying employees.

Donations will not be given for the following:

  • Regular operating costs
  • Refinancing of debts
  • Projects outside the Fonds 1818 region
  • Unincorporated legal structures
